2013 Asian Conference on “Substance Abuse Research and Policy” was Successfully Held in Macao



On December 16, 2013, in the vibrant and warm winter of Macao, 2013 Asian Conference on “Substance Abuse Research and Policy” and the inaugural meeting of Asian Association for Substance Abuse Research (AASAR) were held at University of Macao. More than 40 well-known experts and scholars on substance abuse research from different countries and regions in Asia, as well as leaders from drug control agencies of government and civil society organizations, all attended this conference and shared experience and research results.

Through voting, the conference approved “The Articles of Asian Association for Substance Abuse Research (AASAR)”, and elected the first crew of leadership organization. Among them, Spenser De Li, famous criminologist and director of Department of Sociology at University of Macau, was elected as the president of AASAR. Bao Guo, dean of Yunnan Police Officer Academy and Chengkai Huang, director of Drug Crimes and Countermeasures Research Center of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, were elected as the vice president. Hongyu Wang, associate professor of University of Macau was elected as the director of council of AASAR. Jinyun Liang, professor of Yunnan Police Officer Academy, Hongwei Zhang, professor of School of Law at Guangxi University, and Qiliang Zhu, director of Department of Public Security at Guangxi Police Academy, were elected as the vice director of council. Shilong Yang, vice president of National Chung Cheng University was elected as the supervising chairman and Yongan Zhang, professor of Shanghai University as the vice supervising chairman.
