Committee on Psychotherapy for Drug Addiction Renaming Takes Official Effect

The Committee on Psychotherapy for Drug Addiction announced at its annual meeting on June 4, 2026, that its official name has been changed from the “Committee on Psychotherapy for Drug Addiction” to the “Committee on Addiction Psychotherapy and Neuromodulation (CAPN),” with immediate effect.

The decision followed an online vote conducted among all committee members in accordance with the arrangements of the General Association. A total of 73 valid votes were received, representing a participation rate of 78 percent. The proposal was approved unanimously, with all 73 votes in favor and no votes against or abstentions. The voting process was confirmed to be open, transparent, and in compliance with relevant procedures.

The renaming proposal had previously been reviewed and approved by the President of AASAR, Prof. Spencer Li. Following these procedures, the annual meeting formally adopted the resolution to put the new name into effect as of June 4, 2026.

From this date forward, the Committee will conduct all academic exchange, science communication, research, and day-to-day administrative activities under the name “Committee on Addiction Psychotherapy and Neuromodulation.” The former name, “Committee on Psychotherapy for Drug Addiction,” will no longer be used.

The Committee said the renaming marks an important step in further clarifying its professional focus. It will continue to strengthen academic exchange, improve service capacity, and contribute to the development of the field.
